Spice Telecom, the brand name of Spice Communications Limited is considered as one of the best service providers of mobile telephony in India, the country which has the greatest growing potential for telecommunication market.SPICE Communications Limited has been promoted by Modi Wellvest Private Limited, and now, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) has 46.89% stake in Spice Communications Limited (Spice).
SPICE started joining hands with ZTE from 2004, so far, thousands of ZTE indoor macro BTS and other GSM equipments are deployed in SPICE network. ZTE gained the trust from SPICE gradually for the customized solutions and professional services.
Works for continuous reduction of TCO
From the late 2005, ZTE has p r o v i d e d e n d t o e n d n e two r k construction solution. Ranging from BSS, CN, OSS and various VAS systems, ZTE works for continuous reduction of TCO and helps SPICE consolidate its high position among operators in the richest states in India. SPICE began to adopt ZTE ZXG10 series GSM product to swap out the existing sites from 2006. The product provided NetSpeed coverage enhancement technology, which can tremendously reduce the site number and hence drive down the OPEX.
After ZTE successfully completed the swap and expansion, network quality was greatly improved to a higher level. Please refer to the details of KPIs in the following table.

Subscribers increased 300% in 18 months within long-term framework contract
With the excellent performance, SPICE and ZTE began to implement long-term framework agreement to strengthen the partnership between two parties. Under the agreement, ZTE will offer a tailor-made managed service for SPICE, including network operation & maintenance services, network growth management, network optimization,network configuration management,resource data collection and control,vendor support management, service provisioning, spare parts management and logistical services, and ect.. This business models enable SPICE to focus on their core business to win new revenue growth, while at the same time raising the operational efficiency.
From then on Spice not only has seen subscriber growth of 300% in 18 months but also because the highest profit operator in India, the country which has the lowest telecommunication charges in the world.
Currently SPICE is putting their effort to urge the government to release the UMTS licenses and frequencies,and plan to reinforce the cooperation with ZTE in the following 3G network building process in the whole country.
