ZTE has unveiled the dual-core 4.3-inch smartphone Grand X in the UK. The phone was launched at a press conference on July 18, 10 days before the London Olympics kicked off. The phone is available through Phones4u and Virgin Media UK.

Fifty-eight media outlets, including Financial Times, Light Reading and Total Telecom, were there to cover the event.

At the same time, a ZTE Grand Xperience stand was set up in Westfield Stratford City, adjacent the Olympic stadium. The stand allows UK consumers and Olympic visitors to experience ZTE handsets.  It will be in place from 15 July to 11 September and will showcase the full range of ZTE handsets, especially the new Grand X handset. Activities such as rap, sketching, and magic performances were arranged at the stand during the games. These attracted large crowds. Meanwhile, the Grand X ad was put in several important locations in London, such as BON Bond Street.

Following the launch of star smartphones Blade and Skate last year, ZTE launched Grand X, Tania, and Kis this year. These are the pillar products in the UK and show ZTE’s transition from low-end to mid- to high-end markets.
Grand X has been positively received in the media. Trusted Reviews said Ice Cream Sandwich runs beautifully on the ZTE Grand X, and it's refreshing to see a phone that sells for under £200 work so smoothly.

Professor Green Backs ZTE Grand X Launch in the UK

ZTE has partnered with British rap star Professor Green, to be the official ambassador for ZTE for the second time. The company first partnered with the popular musician in 2011.

To kick off the renewed partnership, Professor Green featured in ZTE’s official ‘un-boxing’ video for the launch of the ZTE Grand X smartphone, which can be viewed on ZTE’s Facebook page. Consumers can also see Professor Green imagery in retail stores and in marketing campaigns across London, promoting the ZTE Grand X.

ZTE is fast becoming a global handset brand. It is moving from being a major ‘white label’ manufacturer for other brands to developing desirable ZTE-branded devices for sale through major retail partners. As part of this continuing evolution, ZTE chose to partner with Professor Green again for the launch of the Grand X smartphone. The phone delivers a world of entertainment in a single device.

“ZTE is a great, innovative brand that is really shaking things up with their new mobile phones. With gigs and shows all the time in different countries, I am constantly on the move, so anything that enables people to watch videos, listen to music and play games on their phone gets my vote!” said Professor Green.
