ZTE Names New President Mr. Shi Lirong

 


ZTE announced on March 31 Mr. Shi Lirong has been appointed as President of ZTE by the company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Shi Lirong and his new management team will adhere to the strategic direction defined by the board of directors and strive to continue growing all areas of ZTE’s businesses. They will focus on  analyzing changes in the global telecom market, driving innovation and high-quality products in the wireless/wireline and handset markets, and satisfying the dynamic and individual needs of ZTE customers.

 

ZTE Announces 2009 Annual Results
ZTE announced on April 9 its annual results for the year ended 31 December 2009. Based on HKFRS, ZTE recorded a revenue of approximately USD8,820.7 million in 2009, representing an increase of 36.08% against 2008. Net profit was USD359.7 million, representing an increase of 48.06% against 2008. Basic earnings per share were USD0.21. In 2009, net cash flow from operating activities per share was USD0.28.
During the year, the Group’s revenue from domestic operations amounted to USD4,449.6 million, representing a year-on-year growth of 74.04%. As for revenue from the international operations, it grew to USD4,371.1 million, 11.34% more year-on-year, and accounted for 49.56% of the total revenue of the Group.

 

ZTE Records 60 Million Wireless Terminal Shipments
ZTE experienced impressive growth in 2009 in its wireless terminals space. According to iSuppli, ZTE shipped 60 million wireless terminals including more than 40 million handsets and 20 million data cards in 2009. More than 70% of all ZTE shipments in 2009 were to international markets, in line with the company’s aggressive global growth strategy.
In wireless terminals, ZTE’s shipment of 60.17 million units represented a 33% growth over 2008.For its handset business, ZTE has made great strides in Europe and North America, shipping more than 40 million units globally in 2009. ZTE’s data card business experienced an impressive 200% growth in 2009, with 20 million units shipped—the fastest recorded data card business growth in the world.

Telefónica and ZTE to Launch Movistar Handsets in Latin America

 


Telefónica and ZTE announced at the Mobile World Congress 2010 (MWC 2010) that a full range of movistar branded handsets will be launched in 12 Latin American countries during 2010, starting in Q2. Telefónica and ZTE signed an agreement for the development of a complete range of mobile devices. ZTE will manufacture movistar branded handsets exclusively available for Telefónica in Latin America. Telefónica is one of the largest telecommunications operators in Latin America. The customised ZTE handsets will be available throughout the year in the following markets: Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama and Nicaragua.

ZTE Introduces Ultra-slim Big-screen BMP 3G Smartphone


ZTE introduced at MWC 2010, together with Qualcomm, the world’s first ultra-slim big-screen Brew Mobile Platform (BMP) 3G smartphone—ZTE Bingo. Additionally, ZTE is showcasing its 5 Android smartphone models for the first time. ZTE is one of the few mobile phone manufacturers to offer smartphones based on a variety of mobile operating systems, including OMS, Linux and Windows Mobile.

 

ZTE Debuts 160Gbps Packet Gateway Product
ZTE announced at MWC 2010 the debut of its new generation packet gateway product with the world’s largest capacity of 160Gbps. With the increasing development of mobile subscriber access rates, mobile data services, and operator requirements for precise control of services, abilities like packet processing and service based policy control for mobile core network products have become key to preventing bottlenecks. The ZXUN xGW is designed to provide the highest capacity, highest intelligence green solution for operators.

 

Intivation Unveils ZTE S316 Solar Powered Phone and the XPAL Solar Egg Universal Charger
Intivation unveiled its second solar powered phone with ZTE, the S316 Solar Phone, along with a high performance solar charger, the Solar Egg, built by XPAL at MWC 2010. The ZTE phone follows the company’s first solar powered phone, the ZTE S312 launched in 2009, which was particularly aimed at the African market.
The S316 incorporates a torch, a vital necessity in areas with uncertain power supplies. The stand alone universal Solar Egg S101 charger is designed to work in sub-optimal weather conditions.  

 

Customised ZTE Touchscreen Handset Launched on T-Mobile


ZTE has revealed the T-Mobile Vairy Touch II, a light and stylish touchscreen mobile phone at MWC 2010. The launch of T-Mobile Vairy Touch II follows the T-Mobile Vairy Touch, which has been sold to over 120,000 subscribers since its launch in March 2009. The new version boasts a slick and slim design with a 2.8" PDA-style touchscreen. The tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE handset includes a 2.0 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, FM radio, and games.

 

The Story of LTE in Hong Kong Told at Mobile World Congress in Spain

 


CSL Limited, Hong Kong’s leading mobile network operator, its parent company Telstra Corporation, and ZTE unveiled at MWC 2010 the milestones achieved since the launch of NextG, Hong Kong’s leading mobile network.


CSL, Telstra and ZTE announced the details of progress of the LTE trial which has seen 20 active and fully operational LTE cell sites rolled out in Hong Kong. These sites are currently being trialed as CSL, Telstra and ZTE examine the capabilities and characteristics of the next generation of mobile technologies.


The evolution of the LTE network in Hong Kong has been a hot topic in the industry over the last year as CSL and ZTE pioneer new wireless uses for consumers and enterprises in the city and position themselves at the forefront of the global mobile telecommunications industry.
