1. High-efficiency Power Amplifier, Green Power Source
• DPD+Doherty:The original algorithm has enhanced PA efficiency to 45%, leading in industry. Compared with Node Bs of other brands, the power consumption of ZTE Node Bs is reduced by about 30%. That’s one small step for PA efficiency enhancement, one giant leap for energy saving.
• D-PT:Dynamic Power Tracking (D-PT) realizes “Breathing” power management. Track the variation of loads and manages the power intelligently by means of hierarchical variable voltage. Allocate higher voltage to power when the output power of PA is large. Lower the voltage when the output power of PA is smaller than a certain value. This ensures PA to work at its best efficiency even there is different power load. Even when the load reaches its utmost, the PA efficiency can hit as high as 92%. For typical configuration, D-PT can reduce the overall power consumption by 12%.
2. Distributed Architecture, Green Network
• Zero footprint: Small size, light weight, flexible installation and networking have featured BBU and RRU. Limited equipment room and weight capacity are no longer the problems. These features greatly enhance the equipment room utilization and reduce the investment on equipment room and building materials, assisting operator constructing green network.
• Easy engineering: Generally, it takes 3 persons 3 days to install a macro Node B, including the commissioning. But it only takes 2 persons 2 days to install BBU+RRU. It is evident that about 55% installation time is saved. BBU+RRU distributed Node B simplifies the requirements for manpower and transportation, accelerates the network construction and saves energy.
ZTE SDR energy-saving Node B and intelligent temperature control have enabled CSL, the largest mobile operator in Hong Kong, to reduce the load of power, AC and ventilation system, which saves the yearly power consumption of the whole network by 39% and reduces 7,187 tons of CO2 emission, equivalent to the emission of 3,000 cars that drive 20,000 km per year.
