ZXWM M900 DWDM Equipment

With upsurge of emerging services like 3G, IPTV, broadband access and integrated multimedia services and sustained growth of data services, services carried over WDM transport bearer network are in the shift from traditional TDM-centric services to IP-centric services. For DWDM backbone transport network, offering direct lightpaths between major nodes for large-granule services, flexible service scheduling capability, efficient bandwidth management and driving down transmission cost per kilometer bit have become the key evolution trend of backbone DWDM network.

With considerations on both backbone DWDM network development trend and customer requirements, ZTE Corporation launches ZXWM M900, the large-capacity and ultra-long-haul DWDM system. The product integrates cutting-edge transmission technologies and efficient bandwidth management technology, applicable to building international, national, inter-provincial, provincial backbone networks, local switching network and various dedicated networks.

Features

ZXWM M900 is DWDM system applied to long-haul backbone network. It features large capacity (1.6T) and ultra-long-haul transmission, enables smooth capacity upgrade and provides flexible and mature protection schemes. ZXWM M900 also supports OTN functions and interworking of multi-vendor equipments, and is the new generation backbone network transmission equipment. It has following features:

  • Super-large-capacity transmission and modular upgrade

When configured as 10G system, 96/192-wavelength system framework is recommended. The subsystem can perform modular capacity expansion, with transmission capacities of 400Gbit/s, 480Gbit/s, 800Gbit/s, 960Gbit/s and even to 1920Gbit/s available;

When configured as 40G system, C band 96-wavelength system framework is recommended. The subsystem can perform modular capacity expansion, with transmission capacities of 1.6T1.92T, 3.2T, and 3.84T available, addressing tomorrow’s escalating bandwidth requirements.

  • Single-wavelength 40Gbit/s technology

The 40Gbit/s system utilizes ODB, DPSK and RZ-DPQSK modulation formats, which provide better signal-to-noise ratio and enhanced non-linearity. With automatic dispersion compensation (TDC), it is applicable to ultra-long-haul transmission. Furthermore, 40Gbit/s service board employing ODB, DPSK technologies has high slot utilization and lower power consumption.

  • Ultra-long-haul transmission capability

10G system configuration supports repeaterless transmission over 5000km; 40G system configuration supports repeaterless transmission over 2000km.

  • Full support of OTN functionality

All line interfaces of ZXWM M900 equipment support OTN standard, OTN overhead detection and utilization, and cross-connect scheduling of ODUk granule, in full compliance with G.709 and G.798 Recommendations; ZXWM M900 supports TCM domain management overhead, enables multi-vendor and multi-domain precise fault localization and message transfer, thus implementing interworking of multi-domain and multi-vendor equipments.

  • IWF (integrated wavelength feedback) patented technique

Combination of self-patented wavelength centralized monitoring technique and precise temperature control further guarantees the wavelength stability of 50/25GHz wavelength spacing system.

  • Highly integrated MUX/DMUX with low power consumption

The unique 80-λ MUX/DEMUX architecture allows for multiplexing/demultiplexing of 80 wavelengths without use of OCI, causing slot occupation and power consumption to decrease by 20% and 50% respectively.

  • Wavelength add/drop function

Designed with flexible MUX/DMUX architecture, ZXWM M900 enables agile add/drop of 1-96/192 wavelengths. It supports fixed optical add/drop multiplexing (FOADM) and reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexing (ROADM) functions.

  • Flexible and mature protection schemes

Multiple protection modes are available: 1+1 path protection, 2-fiber bidirectional path shared protection, 2-fber bidirectional multiplex section shared protection, subnet connection protection, 1+1 multiplex section protection and equipment-side 1:N OTU protection. ZTE’s innovative path shared protection technique vastly decreases protection wavelengths used, saving network construction cost.

  • Strong service access and aggregation capability

Aggregate STM-1(OC3), STM-4(OC12), STM-16(OC48), STM-64(OC192), STM-256, FE, GE/10GE, FICON, ESCON, FC, ATM, PDH services into 2/8×GE, 4×155M, 4×622M, 4×2.5G, 4×10G, 8×Any, 2/4/8×FC, etc.

Benefits for customers

  • Ultra-long-haul design to reduce regeneration sites

The system adopts multiple key techniques to reduce regeneration sites, implements ultra-long-haul repeaterless transmission and drives down network investment and maintenance cost.

  • Super-large capacity to fit tomorrow’s service growth

480G, 960G, 1920G and up to 3.84T transmission capacities are available to handle network service growth in the future.

  • IWF patented technique to cut investment cost

Combination of patented wavelength centralized monitoring technique and precise temperature control further guarantees the wavelength stability, ensures smooth upgrade of the system with no needs to replace all OTU boards, resulting in lowered upgrade cost.

  • Innovative optical path shared ring protection to save wavelengths

Patented path shared technique has been drafted into ITU-T G.808.2 Recommendation. Optical path shared ring protection saves system wavelengths and reserves more available wavelengths for future service extension.

  • ROADM design approach

Agile service scheduling ensures rapid service turn-up; full OOO mode removes undesirable OEO back-to-back connections and lowers expensive Transponder cost; support remote software configuration, eliminating the needs for manual adjustment, driving down manual maintenance cost and avoiding error operations.

  • Mature, cost-effective backbone WDM solution

ZXWM M900 equipments have been widely deployed in large-scale backbone networks in many countries and regions around the world, delivering the commercialized, mature and cost-effective backbone WDM solution.
