As the network infrastructure, transmission equipments featuring multi-service (TDM/IP/ATM) bearing capability are required to cater to the service data development trend of communication network. Onrush of data services, representing by IP and ATM, comes huge demands for network bandwidth. Further escalating requirements for broadband-based transmission equipments, multi-service bearing capability and equipment reliability are also appeared in network infrastructure construction. Network operators are hoping to select the right equipments to build the future-oriented transport network.
Among ZTE Unitrans series of optical transmission products, ZXMP S380 is the multi-service transport platforms at levels STM-16. With full consideration in service diversity and variation of network architecture, the system adopts advanced technologies and design idea, inherits ZTE’s technology patents and experiences in the field of SDH and implant new technological contents in SDH equipments. ZXMP S380 integrates with ADM, DXC and IP/ATM functionalities, enables high-speed and large-capacity information transport, addresses transmission demands in backbone network, local network and metro network and is the ideal equipment for building the broadband transport network.
Positioning and highlights
ZXMP S380 can implement smooth upgrade from 2.5G to 10G, and enable large-capacity and long-haul service transmission. The system can be applied in construction and capacity expansion in various transmission backbone networks and for large-capacity metro service dispatch, accommodating bandwidth requirements in different scenarios and at different levels.
ZXMP S380 provides versatile service interfaces, including STM-16, STM-4 and STM-1 optical interfaces; STM-1, E3/T3, E1/T1 electrical interfaces; and 10M/100M/1000M Ethernet interfaces, ATM interface. Highly integrated service interface boards are also available to address the demands for large-capacity service access.
In addition, ZXMP S380 utilizes overhead bytes in SOH to offer extra data interfaces, as well as flexible add/drop of overhead paths. Auxiliary interfaces provided by system orderwire board (OW) allow for extra low-speed service applications. OW board has 3 OW interfaces, 5 RS-232/422 interfaces and E1 64kbit/s data interfaces.
With redundant design in hardware, ZXMP S380 adopts dual-bus architecture and 1+1 hot backup for cross-connect board and clock, resulting in a vastly improved system reliability and stability. The system employs dual power distribution system to ensure power supply security. All functional boards adopt distributed power supply mode, with little impact on power supplies among boards, and greatly erasing the effect on system during plugging/unplugging boards.
ZXMP S380 can implement all ITU-T-specified network protection modes to handle customer’s different networking requirements. Protection modes include point-to-point or link 1+1/1:1 trial protection, multi-fiber multiplex section 1:N protection, 2-fiber unidirectional protection ring, 4-fiber bidirectional multiplex section protection ring, dual node interconnection protection (DNI) and sub-network connection protection (SNCP). On the basis of ITU-T recommendations, ZTE proposed a brand-new network protection concept, logic subnetwork protection.
ZXMP S380 supports overhead transparent transmission function, significantly enhancing the flexibility in network construction, solving the problem of optical fiber resource deficiency, ensuring NM unification and NM information continuity, and realizing centralized management of remote subnetworks.
ZXMP S380 can select multiple timing sources like external clock, clock extracted from STM-N service interface and internal clock, as the equipment timing reference. The timing system has three working modes: sync-lock, holdover and free-run. The system supports synchronous priority switching and SSM-based automatic switching. In complex transmission network, SSM-based automatic switching enables optimized network timing synchronization distribution, reduces difficulty in synchronization planning, avoids timing loop and keeps network synchronization the optimal status. ZTE SDH products’ patented S1 byte algorithm helps improve and optimize network synchronization capability greatly.
Customer Benefits
Leveraging on MSTP’s advantages, RPR solves the problems of EOS rigid pipe and low efficiency in carrying data services with high convergence ratio, features bandwidth statistic multiplexing, service-awareness and differentiated QOS. Embedded RPR solution takes full advantage of existing network equipment resources, addresses today’s escalating requirements for data services, drives down network construction cost, while allowing sustained evolution to future-oriented network and protecting investment.
The system can form multiple rings, with all line boards configured randomly. Elimination of the duality of eastbound and westbound slots eases network configuration, planning and optimization and boosts network flexibility.
By virtue of its mature technology and high reliability, ZXMP S380 multi-service transport platforms has been widely deployed in major operators’ networks in China, including China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, China Netcom, China TieTong, China Power, broadcast &television network, oilfield, military network. In international markets, it has seen wide deployment in multiple countries and regions, including Pakistan, Indonesia, Panama, Ecuador, and Hong Kong.
