ZXMP M721 Metro Edge eOTN Product Datasheet

Overview

With the emergence of new IP-based telecoms services including 3G, IPTV, triple-play, VoIP and IP SAN and the continual growth of data service, the capacity of metro transport network is becoming the bottleneck of service development.

In order to meet the Metro Edge network development trends and customer demands of huge transmission capacity, long transmission distance, strong service access and aggregation capabilities, ZTE developed eOTN philosophy, the subset of iOTN, features 3 “E”s, Economical, Enhanced and Easy to maintain. Also a new eOTN product – ZXMP M721 was launched, which features large capacity, high integration, any-rate-service access, low cost, intelligent and eco-friendly. This product is mainly located in the metro edge and aggregation layers.

 

Features

High Integration

Most of the cards occupy only one single slot. Sub-rack heights are 1RU and 2RU. One 1RU sub-rack can provide 3 service slots (both DC input and AC input). And one 2RU sub-rack can provide 8 service slots (DC input), 6 service slots (AC input).

Large Capacity and Smooth Upgrade

ZXMP M721 can support 40 channels DWDM system and 18 channels CWDM system compliant with ITU-T standard. Single channel supports 2.5Gbit/s or 10Gbit/s rate. ZXMP M721 also supports modular upgrade with a unit of 4l or 5l.

Strong Transmission Capability

DWDM: 1×37dB, 12×22dB, 6×30dB, etc.

CWDM: up to 28dB for 2.5G CWDM system, and target distance 80KM for 10G CWDM system.

Any-rate-service Access and Aggregation

Service access: STM-N (N = 1, 4, 16, 64), POS, PDH, FEGE, 10 GE, FC, ESCON, FICON, DVBSD-SDI/HD-SDI and any-rate-service access from 100Mbit/s~4.25Git/s.

Intelligent Traffic Grooming

ZXMP M721 provides intelligent traffic grooming – DSS (Distributed Service Switching platform).

One DSS group consists of four cards. The switching granularity can be ODU0 or ODU1. Total switching capacity of each DSS group is 80G and single sub-rack can support multiple DSS group.

DWDM/CWDM hybrid

ZXMP M721 supports DWDM/CWDM hybrid networking. Users can initially build DWDM or CWDM network according to actual needs, and later expand the network to DWDM/CWDM hybrid mode.

Large capacity for future proof

ZXMP M721 supports up to 40×10G for DWDM system, 18×2.5G or 10×2.5G+8×10G for CWDM system and modular upgrade. Large transmission capacity can fully meet the bandwidth demand of metro edge network while the modular upgrade scheme guarantees low initial investments and later smooth expansion, and thus ease the financial pressure on network construction.

 

High integration, reduce investment

A single 1RU sub-rack of ZXMP M721 supports typical 4×10G transmission, and a single 2RU sub-rack supports typical 8×10G transmission, which result in equipment room space saving and power consumption reduction and greatly lowering operation & maintenance expense.

 

Lateral Compatible

M721 can be laterally compatible and hybrid networking with metro core/backbone product ZXMP M820/ZXONE 8000 and ZXWM M920, thereby providing a full range of OTN network solution, reducing the number of spare parts to maximize the reduction of customers’ Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

 

Optional OSC/ESC

ZXMP M721 supports OSC (optical supervision channel) and ESC (electrical supervision channel), which can be selected flexibly to meet different requirements.
