ZTE plans 10bn yuan production, R&D training centre in Guangdong

Chinese vendor says new centre will take six years to build.

ZTE Corp. said Friday it plans to build a CNY10 billion production, and research and development center in China's Guangdong province to take advantage of the area's land resources and competitive labor costs.

The center, which will be funded from internal resources, will have a gross area of about 2 million square meters and will take an estimated six years to build, the Chinese telecommunications equipment and networks provider said in a statement.

The project is subject to shareholders' approval, the company added.
