ZTE participates OIF's third worldwide interoperability test for intelligent optical network

2007-09-12

Recently, ZTE Corporation participates OIF (Optical Internetworking Forum)'s third worldwide interoperability test for intelligent optical network. The test is conducted simultaneously in Asia, Europe and North America. Mainstream optical network vendors including Alcatel, Ciena, Ericsson, Marben, Sycamore, Tellabs, ZTE Corporation, Huawei Technologies, and seven major global carriers such as AT&T, China Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom Group, KDDI, Telecom Italia and Verizon participate the test.

The interoperability test will verify the functions of user-to-network interface UNI2.0 and external network-to-network interface E-NNI, including EPL service, neighbor discovery, control plane failure recovery, non-disruptive bandwidth modification, etc. The test results will be demonstrated at the coming ECOC 2007, September, in Berlin, Germany. ZTE adopts ZXMP C660, the intelligent multi-service optical switch co-developed by ZTE &Ciena, at the network side, and ZXMP S385, the enhanced 2.5G/10G multi-service transmission equipment independently developed by ZTE, at the customer side.

As one of the three international organizations in the intelligent optical network field, OIF is committed to work on the interoperability and interworking of the intelligent optical network. OIF-drafted ASON UNI, ENNI interface specifications, containing signaling, route, discover protocol procedures are supported by all vendors' ASON equipments. Carriers also require ASON vendors to comply with OIF specifications on their UNI and ENNI interfaces.
