On February 27, 2010, the magnitude-8.8 earthquake hit the city of Concepcion , in South Chile , and the wave magnitude was 8 in the capital Santiago. The destructive quake caused widespread damage to the whole nation, destroying buildings, bridges, and communal facilities. Electricity, water and phone lines were cut in many areas.
The interruption of the communication system brought great obstruction to the relief work, for the information could not be delivered in time. At this very moment, time is life, and the value of life is above all. In this situation, effective communication system can save more people's lives.
After the shock , the GoTa network, which was cooperatively constructed by the local trunk network provider Interexport and ZTE, maintained in normal communication state, using its self-equipped power supply of the base station in the isolated site operation mode. At the same time, Interexport made every endeavour to investigate faults in the system and thus ensured the quick recovery of the electric power and the continuous system services.
With the support of GoTa system, the rescue work such as commanding & dispatching, on-site salvage assistance, medical rescue and materials distribution were carried out in an orderly and effective way.

Previously in the Haiti earthquake, ZTE also delivered its humanitarian aid. The company donated its GoTa equipment and actively participated in the relief and after-quake reconstruction work to reduce the loss of the disaster.

In 2008, when the magnitude-8.0 earthquake occurred in Wenchuan in China, the local mobile communication system was destroyed drastically. The huge rescue team urgently required an emergency communication system. ZTE quickly airlifted six GoTa emergency communications vehicles and more than 400 GoTa terminals to the earthquake area, providing a powerful communications support for the rescue team.

The GoTa network constructed by Interexport is now operating in San Diego city, serving the governmental departments, police stations, construction companies, taxi companies and other clients. ZTE's digital trunking communication system based on the 3G radio communications technology, can provide abundant functions such as professional PTT service, common voice service, short message, positioning and high-speed radio packet data service as well as industry and business application solutions such as wireless data collection/transmission and video surveillance. The GoTa system has seen its wide presence in more than 40 countries including China, Romania, the Czech Republic, Chile, Mexico, Malaysia, Norway, Ghana and Senega, making it a China-made digital trunking system of widest application and highest level of internationalization.
