GoTa Global Presence

Success Stories in China

In China, ZTE worked with China Tietong and China Satcom to deploy the GoTa trial networks in early 2003. So far, the GoTa commercial trial networks have been deployed in five of the six cities approved by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII), namely Shenyang, Changchun, Tianjin, Jinan and Nanjing.

GoTa in Qingdao ― Serving International Sailing Regatta

In August 2006, ZTE GoTa digital trunking system was selected to deliver radio dispatch functions for the 2006 Qingdao International Sailing Regatta. It was the first time for China's homemade digital trunking system to serve a large international sports event. As a co-organizing city for the Beijing Olympic Games, Qingdao will host the 2008 Olympics Sailing Regatta.

Being the dispatch center of the sports event, the GoTa network can implement a variety of service functionalities such as private call, group call, short message service, and floor taken on the terminals, and industry-leading dispatch and management functions such as private call, group call, short message group send, online status query, dynamic regrouping, and priority setting on the dispatch console. Among them the online status query, dynamic regrouping, and short message group send are GoTa-specific functions, which is the important reason that the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Committee chose GoTa.

The GoTa network offers a full coverage, ranging from the sailing venues along the coastline to the urban areas along the Qingyin Express Highway. In addition to 10 fixed CDMA base stations used for coverage, ZTE also supplies several mobile emergency communication vehicles to cater for the coverage demand of the high-density traffic areas or emergency zones. The GoTa network can fully meet the strict requirements of the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Committee during the entire event from the initial test to the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony.

GoTa in Weifang―Building City Coalition Emergency Response System

The phase-1 project of "city coalition emergency response and social comprehensive service system" joint built by China Satcom and Weifang Municipal Government was successfully trialed in April 2006 when the 23rd Weifang International Kite Festival was held. The project adopts GoTa as its radio dispatch system to provide communication guarantee for the festival.

Weifang is the first city in China that trials the city coalition emergency response system. The system covers 30 government departments including public safety, public management and public service. Being the core of the system, ZTE's GoTa is responsible for dispatching in a unified manner the related departments and agencies such as public security, traffic police, fire fighting, emergency rescue center, civil defense and city management to deal with urgent cases and provide communication guarantee for the whole network. GoTa offers quality radio dispatch functions including private call, group call, broadcast call, emergency call, floor taken, floor queue, service priority, on-line and group member status query. Besides, it provides the dispatch console and the management console to deliver dispatch-to-MS call, MS-to-dispatcher call, dynamic regrouping, force connection/disconnection, short message group send, location-based service and live recording function while allowing users to access the high-speed wireless broadband network.

ZTE's GoTa has received high praise from China Satcom for its excellent performance in the kite festival and city coalition emergency response handling.

GoTa in Jinan―Applicable for Typical Enterprise Users

China Satcom adopted GoTa for commercial trials in three cities (Tianjin, Jinan and Nanjing). In October 2003, Shandong Satcom ran the trial of GoTa digital trunking technologies in Jinan.

The GoTa network trial in Jinan involves three phases: technical test, technical trial and commercial trial. Its services deployed include Push to Talk (PTT), dispatch and management console, voice, data, Short Message Service (SMS), Location Based Service (LBS), Virtual Private Network (VPN), and video monitoring, which are widely applied to traffic control, flood control, production dispatch, and property management. Now the network is delivering services to commercial VIP customers covering many enterprises such as government offices, traffic & transportation, commercial trade, science, education & culture, food & entertainment, and medical care. It is highly recognized by professional customers for its cutting-edge services and safe and reliable performance.

Success Stories in Overseas Markets

GoTa in Malaysia―Selected by Electcoms for Large-Scale Commercial Use

On January 9, 2007, Electcoms, Malaysia's leading trunking radio and radio-paging operator, held a press conference in Kuala Lumpur announcing the commercial use of the network based on ZTE's GoTa. This is the large-scale commercialization of the Chinese-developed digital trunking system in the overseas market. The launch was attended by the minister of Malaysia Communications Ministry, and China's ambassador to Malaysia.

Electcoms entered the Malaysian analog trunking communications market in 1989, and now has 75% market share, with services principally covering the economically developed West Malaysia. The company began to track the digital trunking technology and solutions in 1999. It reviewed a wide range of vendors for the current project and selected ZTE's CDMA-based GoTa as a strategic technology for the future development of its trunking networks based on the system's feature-rich services and advanced digital technologies.

In December 2005, ZTE signed a commercial contract with Electcoms at the signing ceremony of "China-Malaysia Economic Cooperation Projects", which marked the start of a long-term strategic cooperation between ZTE and Electcoms.

The Electcoms GoTa network was built in three phases. Phase 1 of the network covers West Malaysia, including Kuala Lumpur, and is expected to reach a subscriber base of about 50,000 in two to three years; Phase 2 and Phase 3 will expand the Phase 1 system to cover the whole of Malaysia.

GoTa in Norway―Covering North Europe's Economically Developed Regions

The GoTa network in Norway is a commercial network jointly built by ZTE and Nordisk Mobiltelefon AB (NMAB). They plan to build 330 BTSs with a capacity of 200,000 lines. Now the network has been put into service, covering the whole country and serving the state authorities including judicature, police, fishery, forestry, oil exploration, transportation, agriculture, as well as leisure and vacation.

GoTa Terminals

As Northern Europe is in economically developed regions, ZTE takes into full consideration the high-speed data support capability in building the GoTa network to meet the operator’s network development requirements. The CDMA-based GoTa system is built on the All-IP platform that can ensure a smooth evolution to 3G. When combined with EV-DO services, it can support varieties of 2.4 Mbps or 3.1 Mbps data services such as high-speed packet prepaid service, wireless DDN service, mobile office, Internet surfing, wireless VPN data service, Video On Demand (VOD), video monitoring, and location-based service.

GoTa in Ghana― Serving Government's Security Information Network

Ghana's national security information network adopts ZTE's GoTa as the dedicated trunked radio communications technology. The network can serve the needs of various government departments such as the security system, the police system, prison, fire fighting, the Immigration Bureau, customs, ports, frontier, army, the Presidential Palace, Ministry of Interior, the National Communications Authority, confidential communications, and etc., as well as hospitals and hotels.

Ghana's National Security Information Network Architecture

The network can provide fixed wireless access, mobile communication services and value-added services (e.g., voice, data and short messages); it can interoperate with the networks of other operators. Moreover, according to the needs of the customers, it can flexibly regroup the call groups, enabling better communications efficiency between different departments, as well as improving their emergency response speed and coordination capability under the condition of guaranteed security.

The phase-1 project covers main cities, towns, border entries or exits, and main traffic arteries in six regions of southern Ghana including the Greater Accra Region. The phase-2 project covers four regions of northern Ghana. The whole network covers the entire country and supports 851 user groups.
