GMI2008 is a worldwide multi-vendor interoperability test environment organized by the MSF, where critical next-generation network elements are verified in a number of practical scenarios. The event took place from October 20-31, 2008, spanning several worldwide locations that include Verizon, NCS and UNH-IOL in the United States, a join BT/Vodafone lab in the United Kingdom and China Mobile.
The Multi-Service Forum (MSF) is a global association of service providers and system suppliers committed to developing and promoting open-architecture, multi-service communication systems. Founded in 1998, the MSF is an open-membership organization comprised of the world's leading telecommunications companies.
In GMI 2008, ZTE delivered IMS core including CSCF, HSS, BGF, SPDF, PCRF.
ZTE participated in the following four scenarios:
● Scenario 1: End-to-End Services without QoS
● Scenario 2: End-to-End Services with QoS
● Scenario 3: IMS-IPTV Testing
● Scenario 4: Location Services
ZTE passed 102 and 86 test cases in BT/Vodafone site and China Mobile site respectively. ZTE IMS core inter-operated with over 10 vendors IMS core, access tiles and terminals.
ZTE Solution Highlights:
● Inter-oped with UMTS, TD-SCDMA, CDMA2000, WiMAX, Broadband access tiles provided from other vendors
● The only converged QoS solution for both fixed and mobile accesses
● Excellent interoperability, compatibility and flexibility
● Successful test on dynamic QoS control based on PCC and RACS
● Interoperation with several access networks which proves the access agnostic of IMS
● Validated the interoperability of different access technologies in roaming scenario
“China Mobile is satisfied with the success of GMI 2008 at its site. Interoperability is one of the keys to the large-scale deployment of IMS. Based on the IMS and TD-SCDMA network provided by ZTE, China Mobile successfully verified many critical scenarios in the IMS field, like roaming, QoS and TD-SCDMA accessing IMS core – these tests have been conducted inside and outside of China Mobile’s site.”
----- Jiang Yi, site manager of China Mobile
“We are delighted that ZTE has taken this opportunity to put its products to an exhaustive, real world test at GMI 2008. What’s unique about this event is the way MSF members have collaborated to define six networked test scenarios that address key aspects of NGN evolution of practical interest to major carriers.”
